The Hittman Chronicle

The Legend of Bagger Vance

"I hear you lost your swing.
I guess we got to go find it."

I didn't have high hopes for this one, so I wasn't disappointed, but it could have sucked, and it didn't. Matt Damion is Rannulph Junuh, a once great golfer who comes back from the first world war and crawls into the bottle. His ex-girlfriend, in an attempt to save her late father's golf course, decides to put on a high stakes exhibition game, and several townsmen persuade Rannulph clean himself up and play. He also gets help from Bagger Vance, who wanders in from nowhere in particular to help Rannulph find his swing.

The movie drags in the middle, although it still stays more interesting than watching golf on TV. Once the final game gets started there's far more drama and twists then you'll see in a real golf tournament, although the outcome is predictable. Still, it's a worthwhile flick.
